Discord

Create work, link messages and threads, and receive personal notifications from Discord.

Connect a Discord server to an Epismo workspace. Each member connects their own account; operations use that account's existing permissions. Direct messages are for notifications only.

Connect Discord

  1. Select the Epismo workspace in Web and open Integration settings (/settings/integrations). An Owner or Admin chooses Add to Discord. The installer must also have permission to manage the selected Discord server.
  2. In that server, run /epismo connect and choose Connect Epismo. Authorize your Discord identity and server membership, then sign in to Epismo and approve the connection. Use the same Discord account throughout.
  3. Return to Discord. If you started an operation before connecting, use Continue in its private response to resume it.

A server is bound to one Epismo workspace, and each workspace supports one active Discord server installation. The connection fixes the workspace; installing the app does not grant access to Cases.

Create work

Use /epismo help for the command guide, /epismo case for a new Case, /epismo task for a Task, and /epismo record for a note. Forms accept Case codes, UUIDs or Epismo URLs, and offer recent open Cases. New Cases can use a published Playbook and JSON input; select Teams to share them, or leave the selection empty for a private Case. Tasks are assigned to the invoking account. Titles accept 255 characters; body fields accept 4000.

Review the destination and audience in the private response, then choose Save or Cancel. Completion shows a short acknowledgment and the saved Case link there, without a separate operation DM. Creating a Case or Task costs 5 credits; adding a note costs 1 credit. Existing-Case operations require edit access to an open Case.

From a message's Apps menu, choose Link to Epismo, select or enter a Case, and confirm. You can also paste a Discord message link in Web's Add source dialog or use the existing CLI, MCP and API source-link operations.

A link in a normal channel captures that single message. A link inside an explicit public or private thread captures the thread; normal reply chains are not threads. You must currently be able to view the channel and read its history. Private threads also require membership. Epismo checks your permissions, the Bot's independent access and any configured channel allowlist.

Captured content is shared with Case work collaborators, including those who cannot read the original Discord conversation. Public-only readers cannot see sources. Sources are separate from timeline Records; only their latest complete capture is retained.

Open Cases refresh in the background after message, thread or permission changes. Reads use saved content; check status and timestamps. Case editors can request a manual refresh, including after closing the Case. Linking and unlinking cost 2 credits each, with the initial capture included. Each completed later manual or automatic refresh costs 1 credit to the Case billing account. Failures, pagination and retries are free.

Notifications and disconnection

Connected members receive personal Bot DMs with a workspace label and Epismo link. /epismo notifications shows the setting; /epismo notifications enabled:on or enabled:off changes it across your Discord connections. This is independent of email and Slack settings.

Use /epismo disconnect to disconnect your account from that server. An Owner or Admin can uninstall the workspace integration in Web. Disconnecting removes affected contributed source grants; if none remain, saved content is cleared and synchronization stops. After reconnecting, link the same URL again to contribute your new grant. Unlinking does not erase content already copied into Records. The Bot remains in Discord after Web uninstall and can be removed separately there.
